Sixty-five years ago a group of people decided to take the next step in their life together as a faithful community.
Until 1953 these people had gathered for worship, singing, and prayer in various locations in the west side of the Willamette River. For a while, they met in the clubhouse of a cement company and then in the Masonic lodge in
downtown Lake Oswego.

This group of people decided that their community needed a firmer foundation that would be the true heart of their life and carry them through the years together. They went to the bishop of the Diocese of Oregon with their petition.

In April of 1953, they were granted parish status and Christ Church was officially born.
