Celebrating the Seasons Together
While we all follow the regular calendar year, the Church also tells time in a different way — through the liturgical year. At Christ Church, we enjoy honoring both the secular and liturgical calendars with activities and events that help us celebrate, learn, and grow in community.
Below is an overview of the special days we mark together:
Epiphany Celebration
Epiphany commemorates the arrival of the wise men in Bethlehem. The feast day falls on January 6 — the twelfth day of Christmas — and we observe it on a selected Sunday in early January. Children and adults each have the chance to discover a hidden “treasure” inside a cupcake, which earns them a small gift.
Easter Egg Hunt
Held the Saturday before Easter Sunday, this event is open to children up through 5th grade. More than 1,800 candy-filled eggs are hidden in and around the church grounds. The hunt begins promptly at 10:30 AM.
Homecoming Sunday
Every September, we celebrate the return of our programs after summer break. Following the 10 AM service, the parish gathers for a festive potluck.
Trunk or Treat
On the Sunday before Halloween, parishioners decorate their car trunks and welcome children in costume for a fun, early start to trick-or-treating.
Advent Wreath Making
On the first Sunday of Advent, we gather to mark the beginning of the four-week season by creating beautiful evergreen wreaths for home use. All materials are provided.
Saint Nicholas Visitation
On the Sunday nearest December 6, the feast of St. Nicholas, the historical saint “travels” from 4th-century Myra to share his story and leave each child with a small treasure.
The Nativity Story
At the 3 PM Christmas Eve service, the Nativity story comes alive. Children and adults may choose from a selection of character hats and help bring the story to life at various moments throughout the reading of the story.
